OUR NEIGHBOR ROW AMERICA
A FORMER BOATYARD
Considered to be the oldest residential thoroughfare in Westchester County, Milton Road was originally a Native American footpath and one of Rye’s first roads. History tells us that boat building was an important part of the local economy and many ship captains lived in houses along Milton Road. Milton Harbor House (MHH) sits on the site of the former Kirby Boatyard. Several racing yachts, among them an America’s Cup winner and two contenders, were built in the Kirby Boatyard. Milton Harbor House was designed by renowned architect Edward Durell Stone.
